WELCOME!
Hello, and thank you for visiting this site. If you like it, please return from time to time; I hope to be updating the site at least every one or two weeks.
As you might guess by now, this site is all about love; God's love for you and me. Though the message of that love is shared on these pages in a variety of ways, including question-answering, creative writing, personal testimonies and more, it can all be summed up in 4 beautiful and wonderful words:
YOU ARE GOD'S TREASURE
Yes, that's right. You are God's Treasure. I am God's Treasure. Every single one of us is God's Treasure!
Can you imagine that? The God of the universe, the King of Kings, He who made the light to see. He who knows all, including things we probably wouldn't want anyone else to know, actually values each and every one of us. His is the busiest job of any job that's ever existed, and yet he still loves and even treasures us.
Wow.
Here are some beautiful passages from the Bible that illustrate God's love:
Psalms 36:5
Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Psalms 36:7
How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.
Lamentations 3:22
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
Because I have been given much, since I have been given the greatest treasure that could possibly be discovered - that the Author of Love loves me, I want to share the news of this invaluable treasure with you, and that can all be summed up in what is probably the most famous and clear-cut all-encompassing declaration of God's love in the entire Bible:
John 3:16 (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
A well known story tells of a man who finds a flock of birds "huddled miserably" in the snow outside his house on Christmas Eve (read story here). The man tries everything he can think of to direct the birds into his barn, where they would be safe and warm. But no matter what he does, the birds are afraid and run from him. He wishes he could become a bird so that he could communicate with them the plan to rescue them.
This story is so attractive to me because of the fact that what that man wished he could do to save the birds, Christ Jesus has done to provide our rescue. From before the beginning of time itself, Christ had a Heavenly home in glory at the right hand of his Father. All was his: the angels' praise, the streets of gold, the riches, everything. And yet, when he heard the cries of distress from mankind whom he loved and had created, he willingly left all that behind. Man needed to be shown the way to salvation, and since man could never see the way and could never be "good enough" to save himself, Christ lived as a human for 33 years so that he could ultimately pay the ultimate sacrifice to redeem us, death on a cross. Now that's love! Let's look at 1 John 4:9-10:
"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. "
Why did God send Christ? The simplest answer is that Christ's mission was to save us from the weight and punishment of our own sins. Man tries to atone for his wrongdoing by doing "good", hoping that his good deeds will outweigh his bad deeds, and that when his life is over, the scales will tip in favor of the good, and God will let him into his Heaven. But it doesn't work that way. Because God is perfect and holy, he cannot abide in the presence of sin; it would be against his very nature. And no matter how hard man tries, we can never get rid of our own sin. Man's goodness will never be "good enough". And that's why God, in his vast love, sent Christ who willingly died on the cross. Christ never sinned, but he willingly laid down his life as a substitute for us, who, because of our sins against God, had sown the seeds of our own just reward, death and separation from God.
It's all about love: God the Father exhibited his love for mankind by sending his son, Jesus, who exhibited his love by willingly leaving his Heavenly Home in Glory to live a meager existence and then allowed himself to be beaten and murdered.
Thank God the story didn't end there. On the 3rd day after Christ was crucified and died, God the Father rose him to new life and in so doing, he established the Covenant of Faith/Grace so that anyone who would put his faith in Christ will be given eternal life with him.
